"There is quite a lot we can do to improve the quality of the skin with a variety of treatments," says Prof Wilkinson. In the video, he talks about his patients who are concerned about their sun damaged skin beyond skin cancer, including aesthetic issues like pigmentation, wrinkles, skin laxity, dull complexion, and more.
Anti-wrinkle injections can be used to soften areas of excessive wrinkling, which can have a profound effect on the overall appearance of the skin.
Dermal fillers can be used to restore shape in areas with volume loss or sagging, providing a "plumper" or healthier look.
"For us, this is an extension of skin cancer medicine into what I think of as 'skin repair', and it's actually responding to the cumulative damage that the sun has done to the skin over a number of years."
