RADIOFREQUENCY (RF) MICRONEEDLING
Microneedling + radiofrequency to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, pigmentation, fine lines, pores, and scars.
Refine poor skin texture
Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling is a non-laser therapy that combines traditional microneedling with radiofrequency technology. Together, this treatment stimulates collagen production and tightens tissue to address lax skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, pigmentation, fine lines and pores. Combined with LED light therapy, RF microneedling is also beneficial for revising scars resulting from surgical procedures, injuries and acne.
RF microneedling is a comfortable and simple treatment with little downtime that delivers energy at various depths so that it can be tailored to address your individual concerns. It is the ideal therapy to refine poor skin texture, including crepiness and sun damage, and is great for hard-to-treat areas, especially on the lower face:

How does radiofrequency (RF) microneedlng work?
The radiofrequency technology delivers energy into deeper layers of the skin than traditional microneedling to treat wrinkles and acne scars at a more effective level. The heat created by the radiofrequency stimulates tightness in connective tissues.
The microneedling component of the therapy creates the slightest possible micro-wounds to promote the production of collagen, which is what gives our skin its firm elasticity.
Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling heals quickly with little downtime, revealing smoother, tighter, and more refined skin. Our patients enjoy overall improvement in their skin after just one treatment, and the most improvement after three sessions.

Avoid Sun Exposure: Limit sun exposure and avoid tanning beds for a few weeks before the procedure. Sunburned or tanned skin can be more prone to complications like hyperpigmentation.
Topical Products: Discontinue the use of retinoids, glycolic acids, and other exfoliating agents at least a week before the treatment.
Hydrate Your Skin: Hydrated skin can better tolerate the procedure, and it may also aid in the healing process.
Avoid Certain Medications: Inform your practitioner about any medications or supplements you are taking. Some medications, such as blood thinners, may need to be adjusted before the treatment to minimize the risk of bruising.
Avoid Strenuous Exercise: Avoid vigorous exercise on the day of the treatment. Sweating and increased blood flow can potentially increase the risk of infection.
- Please avoid hot showers or saunas within 24 hours of treatment (gentle washing only).
- Avoid vigorous activity, alcohol consumption, exercise and saunas within at least the first week post treatment.
- Apply a UVA/UVB sunblock with an SPF of 30+ regularly. When outdoors, always use an umbrella, cap or any other available protection to protect against sunlight. UV radiation from the sun, even on a cloudy day, may cause hyperpigmentation of the treated area.
- It is highly recommend to hydrate very well with water for 3 days post treatment.
- You may experience some short-term skin responses including but not limited to the following:
- You may feel a burning sensation for 1-2 hours after treatment. Cooling with ice packs can relieve the treated area. Please ensure the ice pack is wrapped in a clean and dry gauze or towel to prevent water from the melting ice permeating into the treated area.
- Redness and swelling may occur. This is a normal response and duration will depend on individual treatments but is typically 1-3 days. You may take a Benadryl or Zyrtec to help with swelling.
- In rare cases, the overall skin tone may become darker with crust formation 1-2 days after treatment. This is normal and you do not need to be concerned.
- Do not forcibly scrub or remove epidermal debris or crusts. Please allow them to exfoliate naturally. Never use scrubbing agents or exfoliants.
- The RF delivers heat deep in the skin which can result in a purge or breakout post treatment. This is normal and breakouts should resolve within 1-2 weeks. If the breakouts are more than a few, please reach out to us so we can evaluate if a prescription should be used to help during the purging process.
- You may cleanse the treated area, apply make-up, shave and shower 24 hours after treatment.
- Moisturise as needed or at least 1-2x that day.
- Make sure to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF of 30 or higher, on top of your moisturiser.
- Do not use products with active ingredients.
- Avoid using alcohol-based skincare and cosmetics within at least 2 weeks after treatment.
- Resume normal products once flaking/dryness has subsided or after 5-7 days.
- Do not use Retin-A, Retinols, Tretinoin, for 7 days post procedure.
Side effects
You are likely to experience one or more of the following side effects:
- Bleeding
- Redness
- Bruising
- Itching
- Dryness
- Pin prick marks on the skin
These issues above are common and should resolve over the next few days.
Results
You can start to see a difference in your skin at 1 week but full results will not be seen until 8-12 weeks post procedure.
You will want to schedule your next treatment in 4-6 weeks. We usually recommend 2-4 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart if you are doing a series.
Following pre- and post-treatment care guidelines will help optimise your results. Our Doctors or Skin
Therapists will walk you through any contraindications or side-effects that might impact you.

Frequently asked questions
What does RF microneedling do?
Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling stimulates collagen production and is ideal for your concerns with lax skin, wrinkles and lines, big pores, pigmentation, poor skin texture, scars, sun damage, and more.
Does radiofrequency (RF) microneedling hurt?
Your skin will be numbed with topical numbing cream prior to the RF microneedling procedure. You may feel some heat, but most patients find it very tolerable.
How long does radiofrequency (RF) microneedling take?
Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling takes about 40 minutes to an hour.
We recommend 1-3 sessions with maintenance follow-up treatments required every 12-18 months for the continued benefit of your skin’s appearance.
What should I expect during and after my radiofrequency (RF) microneedling treatment?
Your skin will be numbed with a topical anaesthetic to minimise discomfort. The treatment is generally comfortable and non-invasive. Your skin will be red and possibly swollen for 1-3 days.
After treatment you might feel a mild stinging sensation, redness and some swelling (like sunburn) that usually subsides after 24 hours.
Will I require downtime or experience any side effects after radiofrequency (RF) microneedling?
You may be red for a few hours after RF microneedling, but this gradually fades. The technology allows energy to be delivered under the skin without damaging tissue or using chemicals, which means little downtime.
How long do RF microneedling results last? How many treatments should I have?
We recommend a course of three RF microneedling treatments for optimum results. We usually recommend to have a treatment in around 12-18 months to maintain best results.
Is RF microneedling better than microneedling?
RF microneedling produces stronger, faster and more noticeable results than microneedling alone, due to the added benefits of the radiofrequency component.
