Dr Alvin Prakash

Independent Doctor at Redcliffe Skin Cancer Centre

MBBS (High Dist), FRACGP

Dr Alvin Prakash worked as a GP in Brisbane and developed a special interest in skin cancer early in his career after noticing a need for the timely and skilled management of skin cancers in the community. He undertook further education and training in skin cancer medicine and surgery and now dedicates his practice to skin cancer medicine at Redcliffe Skin Cancer Centre. Dr Prakash keeps up to date with advances in skin cancer surgery and dermatoscopy through his regular attendance at conferences and professional courses, and he also assists in delivering university-assured skin cancer surgery training for GPs through our sister organisation HealthCert Education.

Dr Prakash graduated from James Cook University with a high distinction in 2008. He has extensive and varied medical experience, having worked and supervised junior doctors in general medicine, surgery and emergency departments in regional centres of Australia including hospitals in Darwin, Maryborough and Hervey Bay. He went on to achieve the highest ranking for selection into general practice Fellowship training with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Dr Prakash takes care to examine the skin of all his patients for the earliest signs of skin malignancy and melanoma detection through dermatoscopic examination. In addition to comprehensive skin checks, Dr Prakash provides surgical and non-surgical management of skin cancers and sun damage including in difficult regions of the body such as the face and hands.
