Having completed postgraduate training in skin cancer medicine, Dr Ben Filewood is experienced in skin cancer checks, biopsies, diagnoses and treatments, including excisions, sutures and complex flaps. He enjoys educating patients about skin cancer prevention and management. He finds the early detection and effective treatment of potentially fatal skin cancers to be a very rewarding field of practice and is passionate about achieving excellent and safe surgical outcomes with minimal complications, while involving his patients in the whole decision-making process.
Dr Filewood graduated from The University of Queensland in 2010 and completed his residency and internship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and then his GP training in Bundaberg, where he developed a keen interest in skin cancer medicine and surgery. He obtained his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2013.
