Dr Fran Ramsay holds a Professional Diploma of Aesthetic Medicine and is a dedicated Aesthetic Doctor at New Town Skin Cancer & Skin Repair Centre. Dr Ramsay believes it is important to take a holistic approach to aesthetic medicine in order to enhance a patient's natural beauty. She is proficient in many different areas and modalities of aesthetics. Patient safety is paramount in her day-to-day work and her friendly, approachable manner helps each patient feel confident and comfortable during their aesthetic treatments.
Dr Ramsay graduated from The University of Queensland and after years as a general practitioner subspecialised into the field of Bariatric Medicine (weight management). She was the Medical Coordinator of a multi-disciplinary, non-surgical weight loss clinic in Brisbane for 12 years. Since 2008 Dr Ramsay has also worked with Bariatric Surgeons in Brisbane and Hobart, performing pre-operative assessments and comprehensive long-term follow-up of weight loss surgery patients. Due to her extensive experience in the field of weight management medicine, Dr Ramsay is highly regarded and considered an expert in this field. She is passionate about helping her patients manage their weight and health risks, with a multi-strategy approach that involves nutritional counselling, life coaching and if necessary pharmaceutical treatments and surgical options.
In 2015 Dr Ramsay moved to Hobart to continue to work in the field of weight management medicine at Hobart Private Hospital. She upskilled in the area of Aesthetic Medicine and holds a Professional Diploma of Aesthetic Medicine. She joined the team at New Town Skin Cancer & Skin Repair Centre in 2018 and performs skin repair and rejuvenation services. Just as managing weight and its co-morbidities can be life changing for her patients, so can restoring skin health and performing anti-ageing treatments for her patients.
Dr Ramsay is a member of the Obesity Surgery Society of Australia and New Zealand (OSSANZ) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) National Faculty of Specific Interests Obesity Management
